Easy Send lets you transfer money to the Philippines free if you have an
quailified checking (Plus Checking, Interest Checking, Employee Plus
Checking and Easy Send Checking) and an Easy Send account.
There are no fees, no minimum balance, and the Easy Send account is
non-interest bearing.
However, there may be a fee on the qualified checking account (example
Plus Checking) unless you maintain a $1500 balance. Contact HSBC at

With the Easy Send account, you'll receive an HSBC ATM card for your
authorized user in the Philippines in 7 to 10 days.
You will also be notified of the Personal Identification Number (PIN). You
will call the bank to activate the card AFTER the person in the Philippines
has the card in their possession.
It is easy to make a transfer to the Philippines right from home. Call
1-800-975-HSBC (English) or log onto Personal Internet Banking account.
You don't even have to leave your computer. No wire transfer fees are
involved.
Loved ones in the Philippines can withdraw the money FREE from HSBC
ATMs. There is a $1.50 fee to withdraw from non HSBC ATMs. As long as the
institutions that run the ATM's do not charge surcharges there are no fees.
If you withdraw the money in another currency besides US Dollars are
subject to a currency conversion rate.
This look like a very promising way to beat all those Western Union fees,
wire transfer fees, and other fees associated with many other companies.
